Periodically, snakes naturally outgrow their skin. A snake doesn’t lament the loss of its old skin, nor does it carry it forward with it, or even look back once its shed is complete. This doesn’t mean the old skin wasn’t necessary and helpful; only that the snake had outgrown it.
Maybe there’s a lesson for us in this, about releasing what no longer serves us by moving forward and allowing our growth. In those moments when we may feel stuck, or constricted, maybe we need to figuratively get on our bellies and slither out of that energy!
